I had just bought a condo in Inletview Condominiums, in Lakeshore, Chattanooga, TN. I honestly thought it was going to be my retirement home. Easy maintenance, not difficult to clean, safe, and among like-minded retirees. I thought of it as my pseudo-beach home. I thought I wanted to retire to New Smyrna Beach, FL. And that was pretty close, in my estimation, and still close to my kids and family. The first thing I did was go on a meditation retreat at Southern Dharma in Hot Springs, NC. I’d never been, and had always wanted to go. I really liked the teacher, Dr. Lucinda Green, and afterward signed up for her next retreat in Colorado City later in the year. That was in stark contrast to the other part of my life-boating, partying with my new-found friends, and drinking. Way too much. I would later figure out that this period of my life was a huge, necessary lesson in the making.
