I retired in 2018, after 32 years in the nuclear power production industry as a Nuclear Reactor Operator. It was a fabulous career—very rewarding and demanding. My co-workers were almost exclusively men, and that came with its upsides and downsides. There was a new generation of ex-Navy recruits, most of whom held a very low opinion of women. I was really tired of constantly having to prove myself. So, it was time to move on to the next chapter of my life.
